The Organisation

The Association of Singapore Actors (ASA) was established as a society on 23 July 2001 with the aim of advancing and recognising the artistic merit and professional development of actors in Singapore.

Registered as a non-profit society, the association is an independent organisation spearheaded by a group of actors, who felt the need to provide Singapore actors with opportunities to seek career and legal advice, to upgrade their acting and professional skills as well as network with other actors. It serves as a collective voice for Singapore actors by representing and serving the interests of members on issues affecting their profession and the industries (theatre, film, television, schools and commercial projects) in which they work.

As ASA is the first and only association for actors here, we hope to represent and gain the support of a broad range of actors working in television, film, theatre, school as well as commercial projects in Singapore today.

Does ASA operate as an agent for actors in Singapore?

No. ASA is not an agency. It does not promote or scout talents for the performing arts industry. ASA is a non-partisan and non-profit body that looks after the interest and welfare of member actors in Singapore. It aims at addressing actors' right, setting professional working standards and work with industry players such as theatre, film and television companies as well as talent agencies to work out acceptable guidelines for the acting profession. Actors with contracts with existing agencies can be members of ASA. Ultimately, ASA functions as a lobby or interest group within the performing arts industry.
