Currently the Associate Artistic Director of Toy Factory Theatre Ensemble, Nelson works as a full-time freelance actor (theatre / TV), director (theatre), theatre reviewer and lecturer.
Although seen as a major player in the local Mandarin theatre scene, he has in fact appeared in many lead and major roles in both English and Mandarin productions since 1993.
One of his highly memorable performances was as the lead in Toy Factory Theatre Ensemble’s Mad Phoenix, which got him a nomination for Best Actor in the 4th Straits Times Life! Theatre Award.
His directing credits include American play Oleanna (translated into Mandarin by himself), which was nominated for Best Director, Best Actor and Best Actress in the 3rd DBS Life! Theatre Award.
He holds a BA (Hons) in Theatre Studies (NUS) and MA in Theatre Arts Directing (U of London), and is an adjunct lecturer with Theatre Dept of NAFA and TS program of NUS. |
