A note from the Editor,
What you can expect in this section in the near future:
1. Articles and sharing notes from previous ASA Training Grant recipients.
2. A series of anecdotes to publicise and acknowlegde best practices of producers and production houses. Our ASA Treasurer, Serene Chen, has this positive experience with "The 5Cs" to share:
"As directors and producers, Colin (Goh) and Yen Yen respected all actors and
crew as fellow collaborators in the filmmaking process. They shared
their vision of going into "The 5Cs" with an independent filmmaker's
spirit and throughout the rehearsal and filming period, stayed committed
to that. They listened to criticisms and suggestions with openness; they
made sure that there was always enough food on the production table;
they worked as hard as everyone else on the set; they made it a point to
acknowledge the efforts of every member of the team at opportune moments
- the opening ceremony, wrap party etc.
As an actor, I was paid punctually, according to the time frames set out
in the contract. The sweetest gesture was receiving a personal letter of
thanks a week after completion of filming. Though the company "5C Films"
was set up for the sole purpose of making this one film, the way in
which the producers managed their human resource should live on." - Serene Chen
If you have similar experiences with other producers/production houses, please share with us in the hope that this would send a positive message to others to emulate.
