Checkpoint Theatre - A Language of Their Own

A Language of Their Own is a lyrical and dramatic meditation on the nature of love, desire, sexuality, and self-definition as four gay men – three Asian and one white – come together and drift apart in a series of interconnecting stories.

Filled with witty and accessible dialogue, this play weaves together the anatomy of a breakup from an intense 4-year relationship, and the effects of irresponsible sex on relationships and couplehood.

For all of the complex issues raised, this is essentially a very simple and very romantic play.

Layered with a sensitive visual moodscape, this compelling play will guarantee a lack of dry eyes in the house.

Written by Chay Yew; Directed by Casey Lim; Starring Koey Foo, Phin Wong, Mark Waite and Peter Sau

I Theatre - Let Me Entertain You!

10% Discount for ASA Members!

Have you ever wondered what REALLY goes on backstage? What is it that REALLY makes the magic? Is it the dirt, the scandal, the underwear, or lack of? What about the sleaze, the sex or the socks???

After a tumultuous and illustrious ten years of hard work and ill-fitting costumes in the entertainment scene, Darius has drawn his wealth of experience together to create a wonderfully engaging cabaret. He dominates the stage as the feisty and fun-loving thespian in a performance that nicely balances toughness with tenderness.

Loretta Chen re-ignites this genre as she directs, creating a sparkling show. What’s more there’s deliciously unrestrained music by music genius Bang Wenfu to boot.

Set in the intimate yet provocative setting of the Arts House Play Den, and featuring songs from a myriad Broadway and Off-Broadway musicals, Let Me Entertain You! is one show guaranteed to fire up your senses with its wit and decadence.

Catch a glimpse of the riveting, risqué and raunchy world of theatre. Get to meet some of theatre’s best-loved characters - from the wannabe to the has-been, from the dropout to the diva - and don’t forget the stylist and the socialite!

Darius’ vibrant vocals, debonair flair and seriously sticky glue will hold you captive. You may laugh until you want to cry, or pee (whichever tickles your fancy!)

Come on down and spend an evening with Darius and his permanently botox-ed and occasionally de-toxed friends! Get set to be truly inspired by the magic of theatre.

(P.S.: You may even get to find out if its ONLY ballet dancers who wear their socks there!!)

Directed by Loretta Tan; Starring Darius Tan

Time: 7.30, 8.00 & 9.30pm
