Cake Theatrical Productions - Queenping
Discount for ASA Members!
In the bloodthirsty game of human ping-pong, only one can emerge victorious. The loser faces certain death. the queen bee sits on her throne. Watching with such intensity. She slips and slides. Watching. Watching. Her head turning on an axis, the bristles on her back erect, her sting so ready it's aching.
Then all of a sudden the agonising cry of defeat and it's all over. The time has arrived. The world has stopped for one person and the bitch begins to feast.
Queen Ping is about how power, identity, control and sexuality play out in the lives of four people whose paths connect and collide in present day reality and in the realm of dream and fantasy.
Queen Ping is set to be a deliciously dark, wickedly funny, totally irreverent piece of work.

NUS Centre For the Arts - Man of Letters
An NUS-commissioned musical by Dick Lee
Presented by NUS Centre For the Arts
Dick Lee’s first romantic musical, Man of Letters dramatises the love triangle of University of Malaya students during Singapore’s political unrest in the 1950s. Shy medical freshie Ming falls in love with the beautiful brainy Roseanne but cannot believe she would love him back. When his best friend, the handsome hot-head Gan Seng shares he too is in love with her, Ming steps back and helps him woo Roseanne by composing passionate love letters on his behalf. Their love story unfolds amidst the turbulence of a historical era marked by student riots and racial tension.
Uniquely Singaporean, it will feature new music by Dick and boasts a stellar cast of home-grown talent including Robin Goh, Emma Yong, George Chan, Gani Abdul Karim, Celine Rosa Tan and NUS alumni. Adapted from Edmond Rostand’s literary classic Cyrano de Bergerac, it is inspired by NUS alumnus and eminent ophthalmologist Prof Arthur Lim’s From a Doctor’s Diary published in 1999.
