| About the work |
This is my very first painting, experimenting with acrylic oils, chalk, as well as beads. My mother, Sandy Teng, is a full-time artist and she is also one of my greatest influences in visual arts. Although I used to draw and sketch voraciously from age 6 to 14, I went through a dry spell and gave it up two years ago. Recently, I had the courage to pick up a pencil and start drawing again. This first piece is special to me, not only because it signals the end of my dry spell, but also because it's the 1st time i actually enjoyed using colours to express. i would like to thank my art teacher, Michelle Ow, for her gentle encouragement. As for the interpretation of this piece, I will leave it to the imagination of the beholder.
