| About the work |
Ming was commissioned by ACTION Theatre to write a full-length play, Ka-Ra-you-OK? in 1995, which was inspired by Singaporeans' obsession with Karaoke. Ka-Ra-you-OK? opened at the Drama Centre in August 1996 and since then has had three subsequent runs. Ming held his second solo art exhibition of prints inspired by his research into Karaoke (using vinyl records as printing plates)
which was also entitled Ka-Ra-you-OK? in conjunction with the
play's first run at the Substation Gallery. The two prints featured here are from the Ka-Ra-you-OK? series.
