| About the work |
With no painting technique to rely on, I simply stood in front of the canvas and did what the moment told me to do. I picked up the brush that called out to me most, and dipped it in green and then just placed my first stroke. The first stroke informed the second, then the third and the first colour called for the next, and then the other. And so I continued until something inside me said, “Stop. It’s done”. I call it “Shakes” because my hands suffer from a harmless affliction called benign tremors – and it was these tremors that dictated much of how the strokes turned out.
